runchatloveWe’re excited to bring a new challenge for you in the first half of February that will help you show off your love of running with the chance of winning a pair of compression socks from our longtime friends at PRO Compression.

The contest is extremely simple. Just post a picture of three things you love most about running using the hashtag #RunChatLove to Twitter and you’re entered to win one of three pairs of socks from PRO Compression.

    Those three things are:

    • Please make sure your photo is new. If we find that you’ve re-purposed a photo simply for the contest, we’ll throw your entry out.
    • You can post your photo to Instagram, but please have it shared to Twitter as well.
    • All three photos cannot be submitted on the same day. Please make sure that your photos are posted on three different days … all for the purpose of sharing more love! If photos are posted within the same day, one of those will not be counted as an entry.
    • The #RunChatLove tag is REQUIRED. (We also encourage you to tag @PROCompression and @therunchat, as well using the #RunChat tag, but that is not required for entry.)

  • RunSmartOnline returns to #RunChat

    This week’s #RunChat — 10 p.m. ET Sunday, Dec. 4 — welcomes back RunSmartOnline.

runsmart-runchat-1Steve Gonser PT DPT — a 6-time Boston Marathon qualifier, physical therapist and RunSmartOnline’s founder — wants to know: how good is your training plan?

“If you’re like most runners you’re probably unsure,” Steve says. ” The outside world views running as a ‘just put one foot in front of the other’ type of sport, but us runners know better.”

Steve says that unfortunately most runners resort to one of three options when it comes to their training plan:

    1. Hoping for the best with internet searches
    2. Polling their running friends for what they use
    3. Winging it

Steve says that no matter what group you belong to, chances are you’re underperforming to race day.  That is, if you get there in one piece.

“A proper training plan can be the difference between fading on race day or surging to the finish — the difference between sitting on the sideline due to injury or competing for an amazing finish,” Steve says.

If you’re uncertain about your mileage, pacing, speed workouts, and more, Steve has a FREE online seminar at 8:30 p.m. ET Tuesday, Dec. 6 to learn how to build a training plan from scratch and/or how to alter one you’re already using.

Click here to sign up for Steve’s “How to Build a Training Plan to PEAK on Race Day” online seminar. If you can’t make the seminar, a replay will be available afterward.

Also, as part of this week’s #RunChat, we’ll have several chances for you to win one of five three-month memberships to RunSmartOnline.com.

The first is a simple retweet and/or like of the tweet below AND answer at least one question during Sunday’s #RunChat to enter:

Two winners — one from a retweet and one from a like — will be chosen at random in the final 5 minutes of Sunday’s #RunChat.

The final way to enter to win is to fill in the blank with why you need to better your training and need a membership to RunSmartOnline.

    I need @RunSmartOnline to help me improve my ______. http://bit.ly/Dec4RunChat #RunChat

While your tweet can vary from up, you it must include a tag to @RunSmartOnline, a link to this blog and the #RunChat tag.

To be fully entered, you must also answer at least one question in Sunday’s #RunChat. Two winners will be chosen at random and announced in the final 5 minutes of #RunChat.

Retweets/liking of tweets do not increase your chances of winning.

(The Follow Friday winner of a retweet was @SchuetteHeather.)
